As the festive season approaches, thousands of travelers heading home to Bihar for Diwali and Chhath Puja have a reason to celebrate. Budget airline SpiceJet has announced a significant expansion in its flight operations to key destinations in the state, including Patna and Darbhanga, ensuring that passengers enjoy greater convenience and affordability during the busy travel period.
Starting October 10, 2025, the airline began operating several new and special flights to cater to the surge in passenger demand. These new routes and additional frequencies are part of SpiceJet’s commitment to make festive travel easier for people returning home to celebrate with their families.
Under the new schedule, direct flights from major Indian metros such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad to Patna have been introduced. Moreover, the airline has increased flight frequencies from Delhi and Mumbai to Patna, providing travelers with more flexibility and better connectivity. Similarly, for Darbhanga, SpiceJet has launched additional flights from Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru — a major relief for passengers from the Mithilanchal region who often face ticket shortages during the festive rush.
According to Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer of SpiceJet, this expansion aims to meet the rising travel demand witnessed every year during Diwali and Chhath. “We understand that millions of passengers travel to Bihar and nearby regions to be with their loved ones during the festive period. These additional flights are designed to ensure they can do so comfortably and affordably,” Maharshi said.
Interestingly, SpiceJet has also introduced special services to Ayodhya, one of India’s most visited spiritual destinations. The airline now offers daily non-stop flights to Ayodhya from Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. The decision comes in response to a notable increase in the number of devotees visiting the newly built Shri Ram Temple, which has quickly become a major pilgrimage center.
For passengers who often struggle to find affordable last-minute tickets during festivals, these additional flights are a welcome relief. The expanded network will not only reduce travel congestion but also help stabilize fares, ensuring that even those booking closer to the festival dates can travel without excessive costs.
This initiative particularly benefits students and professionals living away from home, who travel long distances to reunite with their families during Chhath and Diwali. With more flight options and flexible timings, travelers can now plan their trips with greater ease.
Beyond Bihar, SpiceJet’s enhanced services also highlight the airline’s broader strategy to strengthen domestic connectivity and support regional tourism. By improving access to cities like Patna, Darbhanga, and Ayodhya, the airline aims to make travel safer, faster, and more reliable during India’s busiest travel season.
With this move, SpiceJet has once again demonstrated its customer-centric approach, ensuring that the joy of the festive season begins not at home, but right from the airport.
