$3.9 billion man reveals how the ultra-rich people really live: 'Real money is in …'

Industrialist Harsh Goenka recently reflected on the lifestyle of the ultra-wealthy, offering insights that contrast sharply with common perceptions. Writing on X, he noted that individuals who come from old, generational wealth rarely indulge in flashy demonstrations of their fortune. Instead, they tend to lead understated lives that focus more on substance than appearance.

According to Goenka, those with immense resources often avoid showcasing luxury brands or drawing attention to themselves through extravagant fashion. Their choice of clothing is usually modest and simple. Instead of driving high-end sports cars to announce their presence, many prefer practical vehicles like a Toyota Innova, arriving punctually without the noise of flamboyance.

Similarly, rather than residing in sprawling marble mansions complete with infinity pools, they often choose functional apartments where daily conveniences—such as a reliable internet connection—matter more than grandeur. Unlike the stereotypical image of the rich flaunting champagne glasses on social media, many of these individuals live quietly, maintaining privacy and staying away from the public gaze.

Goenka emphasized that true wealth is subtle, while insecurity often manifests through loud displays. Real financial power, he added, lies not in luxury accessories or glamorous appearances but in long-term investments—whether in stocks, startups, or the compounding effect of patient capital.

“Wealth whispers. Insecurity shouts. Real money is in stocks, startups and silent compounding. Not in reels, Chanel bags and Armani dresses,” he said.

His message urged people to shift focus away from superficial performances of affluence and toward building sustainable assets that grow silently over time.
