Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Monday that US President Donald Trump has personally guaranteed a trade deal between the two countries, adding that the agreement “will be faster than anyone thinks.”
"Trump guaranteed to me that we will make a deal. It will be faster than anyone thinks."
Lula previously described the tariff hike as a "mistake", citing a $410 billion U.S. trade surplus with Brazil over 15 years.
