Many people have come forward to help in the relief of the devastating floods in Punjab, including those who are helping the flood victims. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's Meer Foundation has also extended a helping hand and has provided help to 1,500 flood-affected families in Punjab. The foundation has provided relief material to the flood-affected families.
Relief kits are being distributed.
Meer Foundation is helping the families affected by the Punjab floods by joining hands with some local NGOs. Under this, essential relief kits are being distributed, which include medicines, hygiene items, food items, mosquito nets, tarpaulin sheets, folding beds, cotton mattresses, and other essential items. This initiative will reach a total of 1,500 families in districts like Amritsar, Patiala, Fazilka, and Ferozepur. Its purpose is to meet the immediate health, safety, and shelter needs of the people.
Help is being given in collaboration with local NGOs
Punjab is currently grappling with one of its worst flood disasters in decades. The disaster has occurred due to the rise in the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers, as well as seasonal small rivers, after heavy rains in the catchment areas of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. The Meer Foundation said in a statement that this initiative, launched in partnership with local NGOs, will reach 1,500 families.
