Aishanya Dwivedi, wife of Shubham Dwivedi, one of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, has called out the BCCI over agreeing to play the Asia Cup 2025 match against Pakistan next month despite the border tensions. In a video circulating on social media, Aishanya accused the BCCI of playing with the people's emotions.
'Shame On Those Who...': Ravichandran Ashwin Refutes Controversial Statement On India Vs Pakistan Asia Cup & WCL MatchWith the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) releasing the Asia Cup 2025 schedule, India and Pakistan are set to lock horns on September 14. The announcement has created quite a bit of furore on social media due to the recent border tensions over Pakistan's militant groups allegedly killing 26 Indian tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
Speaking to News24, Aishanya said she didn't think the country will forget them that easily.
"Main bhi yeh jo India-Pakistan ka yeh match hai isko boycott karungi. BCCI isko host kar raha hai, yeh bahut zyaada...ek victim hai jo hum jhel rahe hain, 3 maheene mein aap bhool gaye. Log bhool jaate hain par mujhe nahin pata tha ki log itni jaldi yeh desh, yeh nation, BCCI ya koi bhi hume itni jaldi bhool jaayega. 3 maheene hue hain aur aap kaise agree kar rahe ho ki India-Pakistan ka match karwaana hai Asia Cup mein. This is wrong. Yeh aap humaare emotions ke saath galat kar rahe ho."
(I want to say that I will boycott the India-Pakistan Asia Cup match. You forgot us in three months. I didn't know that this country or nation or BCCI will forget us so fast. It's only been three months and I don't understand how can they agree to an India-Pakistan match in Asia Cup. This is wrong. These people are playing with our emotions.)
Notably, a handful of Indian cricketers had pulled out of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 game against Pakistan.
"The sport must go on" - Sourav Ganguly
In a recent interaction with ANI, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly said India must take a strong stance against terrorism but underlined that sport must go on. Ganguly said:
"I am okay. The sport must go on. At the same time Pahalgam should not happen, but the sport must go on. Terrorism must not happen; it needs to be stopped. India took a strong stance towards terrorism, should make ensure it doesn't happen again but that's past. Sport needs to be played."
Depending on the match outcomes, India and Pakistan could play in the tournament thrice.
