Mumbai: A shocking incident has emerged from Parksite, Vikhroli, where a 35-year-old transgender person was brutally sexually assaulted and attacked after being asked about their religion. The survivor is currently undergoing treatment at Rajawadi Hospital.
Parksite Police have registered a case under Section 18(D) of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, and Section 118(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), against two accused. One of them, identified as Krishna, has been arrested, while police are searching for the second suspect.
According to the complaint, the victim, a transgender individual residing in Vikhroli (West), was walking to a medical shop with a fellow transgender friend late Monday night to get medicine for a headache. As they passed through Masjid Galli on Amrut Nagar Road, they encountered two intoxicated men. One of the men deliberately bumped into and assaulted the victim’s friend, who fled in fear.
After the companion fled, the two men allegedly grabbed the victim, forcibly poured alcohol into her mouth, dragged her behind a parked vehicle, and asked her about her religion. One of the accused, Krishna, then reportedly committed unnatural sexual assault.
The victim lost consciousness and later woke up with a deep wound on her left arm. She immediately called her sister and a friend for help. They rushed her to Rajawadi Hospital for treatment. Upon receiving the information, Parksite Police recorded the victim’s statement and filed a case. Krishna has been arrested, while a manhunt is on for the second accused.
