A fire broke out at a Bata showroom in the Fort area on Saturday night, prompting a swift response from emergency services. Fire was brought under control within three hours. No injuries were reported in the incident confirmed the BMC’s Disaster Management Cell.
The fire broke out around 10 PM on the first floor of the ground-plus-five-storey Rustam Building near Veer Nariman Road in Fort. Fire brigade teams, along with BMC’s A Ward and BEST officials, promptly responded and began firefighting operations. The blaze was categorised as a Level 1 (minor) fire at 10:21 PM.
According to fire officials, "Fire was confined to electrical wiring, installations, cardboard, boxes, and footwear etc on the mezzanine floor in Bata Showroom." Firefighting operations were conducted using four hose lines connected to six motor pumps. As of 1:22 PM, cooling efforts were still underway to prevent any potential flare-ups. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined and remains under investigation.
