A Reddit user, believed to be a woman, reported that a man performed an obscene act on a nearby terrace while appearing to look directly at her. According to her post, the man stood with his trousers unzipped and was masturbating.
Feeling disgusted, scared and unsure of how to respond, she turned to Reddit to seek advice and shares images of his vulgar behaviour online, only for her account to be suspended, reportedly due to the “mature content” she had shared.

The images were marked as 18+ and labelled “NSFW” (Not Safe for Work), with the platform automatically blurring the content. However, despite these settings, Reddit suspended her account.
The woman’s original post’s caption, which was reshared by several other accounts, read, “Caught my neighbour touching himself while staring at me – I feel violated and scared. What can I do without involving my family?”
In her full message, she explained her distress, “I feel disgusted, violated, and scared. I honestly don’t know how to react”.
She revealed that she was afraid to tell her family because she was unaware how they would react or become overprotective.
She also wrote that she did not want to go to the police, which netizens suggested was the right approach.
“I don’t want to involve the police. What action can I take that’s safe, discreet, and effective? Has anyone faced something like this? Any advice would really help”, her post read.
Some urged her to take legal action against the man.
Comments
One commenter wrote, “This is definitely not his first time. If you don’t report him now, he’s likely to do worse to other women because he hasn’t faced any consequences.”
Another user advised: “Send the photos to his family and media outlets. File an FIR for indecent exposure and mental harassment. The law exists for exactly these situations, when you can’t handle it alone.”
However, others pointed out potential legal complications. One person claiming to be a lawyer commented, “Legally speaking, the fact that he was on his own property changes things. If he was within the confines of his home or terrace, he could argue he was engaging in a private act where there’s a ‘reasonable expectation of privacy’. It’s a technical defence, but it could mean he faces no legal repercussions.”
