Arsenal fans have already painted Eberechi Eze mural after Tottenham transfer hijack

Eberechi Eze is on the verge of joining Arsenal and the England international has already been immortalised in a mural near the Emirates. Arsenal have agreed a deal in principle to sign Eze, having hijacked Tottenham's move for the midfielder after an injury to Kai Havertz.

And after news emerged that Eze was set to snub Spurs and join the Gunners instead, a mural depicting him in an Arsenal shirt has been painted by street artist Northbanksy. Manager Mikel Arteta is a big fan of Eze and their interest ramped up after Havertz suffered a knee injury.

The Germany international only returned to action in May after recovering from a serious hamstring problem and Arsenal moved quickly to secure Eze. Tottenham had thrashed out a deal worth an initial £50million plus £10m in add-ons.

However, Arsenal have agreed to pay £60m up front plus an additional £7.5m in add-ons, with Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish's relationship with Arsenal vice-chairman Tim Lewis helping the Gunners' cause.

Eze will become Arsenal's seventh new signing this summer, with Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga having already made the move to the Emirates.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are having to turn their attention to other targets having now missed out on both Eze and Morgan Gibbs-White. Spurs are desperate to sign a new playmaker after James Maddison suffered a serious ACL injury in pre-season.

Maddison could miss the entire season and Tottenham's move for Gibbs-White fell through after Nottingham Forest accused them of making an illegal approach and the player ultimately decided to sign a new contract.

Speaking ahead of Palace's Conference League clash with Norwegian club Fredrikstad, Oliver Glasner was quizzed on the futures of Eze and club captain Marc Guehi, with Liverpool interested in the defender.

"Many of you were surprised that he and Marc started against Chelsea," Glasner said at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday. "You may be surprised they will start again tomorrow because of all the rumours but they are committed here.

“They will play a crucial part for as long as they are here they are committed to the team. If they leave, they want to leave as the guys who gave 100 per cent to Crystal Palace."
