Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi and team-mate Adam Wharton were forced to miss their club's celebrations for winning the after both had to be taken to hospital from Wembley Stadium. Guehi and Wharton both started the showpiece game at the national stadium.
Palace won their first-ever major honour by beating heavy favourites . Eberechi Eze scored the game's only goal 16 minutes in after sweeping the ball following a brilliant counter-attack from the Eagles.
Keeper Dean Henderson did have to save a penalty late in the first-half, getting down low to his right to palm away Omar Marmoush's spot-kick. Henderson arguably could have been sent off for handball earlier in the opening period.
