Jermain Defoe has shared his delight after Harry Kane finally ended his trophy hoodoo. The England captain celebrated in style last weekend as were crowned Bundesliga champions.
Defoe, who has formed a close bond with Kane since the 31-year-old came through the ranks at , said: "His eyes were all over the place! Honestly, when I saw that [Kane's social media posts], it was just so nice to see.
"I've known Harry since he was young and it's a funny one really because when you think about how good Harry is, normally somebody of that level would have won everything. But the fact he's got his first trophy now and a big one at one of the biggest clubs in football, it's just amazing.
"He's got all the individual accolades but in terms of a team and stuff, there's always been a lot of noise around it but he's an unbelievable footballer, I love Harry.
"Even his initial post, it was just a picture of a trophy, it wasn't a long message but it was so powerful. Hopefully now he goes on to win a trophy every year until he finishes."

Defoe now wants Kane to fire England to World Cup glory next year. He continued: "You wait your whole career for a trophy, it doesn't seem like it's happening, he goes to Bayern Munich, still doesn't do it, now wins the league and next season he'll have the chance to win the biggest trophy of them all, the World Cup. That's what happens isn't it!"
Speaking on his own podcast, also shared his delight at Kane's Bundesliga title with Bayern.
The AC Milan defender said of his close friend, ex-Spurs team-mate and England colleague: "Harry was there with a pint of beer in his hand, which I was very, very impressed with. It's probably a weight off his shoulders.
"To go there last season and not win it, and get beaten by a Leverkusen team that was very, very good, was probably a kick in the teeth for him. He's been to two European Championship finals and had to walk past the trophy. He's played in cup finals, played one against me. We've played in a couple together at Tottenham and in semi-finals.
"For him to then finally get a trophy, I think it's definitely more than deserved. At least no-one can start saying that anymore, that Harry Kane's not got a trophy. He's got a trophy now and that's it. It's put to bed."
Defoe was speaking following his involvement in an FA five-a-side tournament at St George's Park - a competition introduced to support local football communities - where four regional-based sides made up of ex-FA Cup winners, influencers and Non-League stars went head-to-head for the trophy.
He concluded: "Any opportunity to put your boots back on is special. When we got knocked out, I saw play with Shola [Ameobi] up top - I said they'll win it, they had so much energy! I respect anyone that plays football, Saturday or midweek regardless of what level, all of us share the same love for the game."
