Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's engagement has got everyone talking, but it's not just the upcoming nuptials fans are raving about. The 1989 hitmaker announced the news on her Instagram page, featuring several snaps of the A-list couple along with a close-up shot of Swift's ring.
Swifties across the globe were thrilled by the announcement as they all reacted with surprise at the engagement of their favourite pop star and the footballer. However, the caption of the joint post by Swift and her NFL player fiancé - who are believed to have started dating in the summer of 2023 - has left people in stitches.
Some have even declared it may be the the worst Instagram caption in history. Swift's Instagram upload is captioned: "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."

While some were clearly moved by the post, others found it to be one of the more grating things Swift has written on social media in recent years.
Taking to X, one person wrote: "Maybe the worst caption of all time ever. Just came to the realisation that Taylor put the dynamite emoji in there because they're 'T&T (tnt).'"
Another wrote: "Assumed this was some kind of in-joke about a pair of actual teachers getting married. What the f**k do you mean it was actually Taylor Swift?"
Another added: "I will be so for real I genuinely thought it was a fan account posting the news because of that caption."
However, other people were less offended by the caption and chose instead to celebrate the news. One wrote: "Stoppp I thought it was low key cute. I don't know though that’s because every English teacher I’ve ever had has been obsessed with Taylor."
Another shared: "In my high school the head football coach was married to one of the top English teachers. So I understood it."

Other jokes were shared on X. Another joked: "You have to admit, 'self-identified English teacher with a private jet' is such a funny category of human."
Meanwhile messages congratulating the couple have poured in from across the world. Even US president Donald Trump joined in to celebrate the couple.
The 47th POTUS shared: "I wish them a lot of luck. I think he's a great player. A great guy. And I think she's a terrific person."
Brittany Mahomes, who is married to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, also praised the couple following news of their engagement.
She shared: "Two of the most genuine people meet and fall in love. Just so happy for these two." Mahomes also shared how the couple are keeping themselves grounded amid their fame.
He added: "We were just having fun and enjoying a dinner just like anyone else would. That's what makes it so great. We don't make it more than what it is - it's just friendship, fellowship and enjoying everyone's success."
