Indian women's cricketer Kiran Navgire made history by scoring the fastest century in just 34 balls, hitting 14 fours and 7 sixes.

New history has been created in Indian women's cricket. Kiran Navgire, playing for Maharashtra in the Senior Women's T20 Trophy match played in Nagpur on October 17, broke the world record for the fastest century in women's T20 cricket by scoring a century in just 34 balls. This record was previously held by New Zealand captain Sophie Devine.

Miracle of Kiran Navgire

She smashed 106 runs off 35 balls, including 14 fours and 7 sixes. This stellar performance helped Maharashtra achieve the target of 111 runs in just 8 overs with 9 wickets in hand. This record was previously held by Sophie Devine, who scored a century off 36 balls for Wellington against Otago in January 2021. Navgire's 106 came at an incredible strike rate of 302.86, making her the first woman player to score a century at a strike rate of over 300.

Kiran created history

She shared an unbroken 103-run partnership for the second wicket with Mukta Magre in this match, with Magre scoring just 6 runs. Maharashtra's total of 113 runs is now the lowest team score in women's T20 cricket in which a player has scored an individual century. The previous record was 123 runs when Anri Derksen scored an unbeaten 106 runs in a CSA T20 match.

Kiran Navgire, who hails from Mire in Solapur district, first came to prominence in the 2022 Women's T20 Trophy. Representing Nagaland, she smashed 35 sixes and became the first Indian woman to score more than 150 runs in a T20 match, scoring 162 runs off 76 balls. She played this innings against Arunachal Pradesh.

Has made her debut for Team India

Her explosive batting earned her a chance to make her T20I debut for India against England at Chester-le-Street the same year. However, she hasn't returned to the national team since the 2022 Women's Asia Cup. She has played six T20Is so far, scoring just 17 runs off 19 balls in four innings, remaining unbeaten once.

In the Women's Premier League, Navgire has been a key cog for the UP Warriors. In three seasons, she has scored 419 runs in 24 innings at a strike rate of 140.13, though her average has been below 18.
