Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a strong warning to state officials, making it clear that any negligence in handling waterlogging and flood-related emergencies will not be tolerated. In a high-level review meeting held on Monday, the Chief Minister assessed the situation of urban waterlogging and the rising levels of rivers due to ongoing monsoon rains. He emphasized that the public must not face any inconvenience and that ensuring their safety and comfort should be the government’s top priority.
Yogi Adityanath directed officials to immediately restore the drainage system and ensure that waterlogging is cleared without delay. He instructed departments, municipal corporations, development authorities, and district administrations to closely monitor the situation, especially in areas like Bundelkhand, which have witnessed heavy rainfall. The Chief Minister also ordered the Water Power Minister and the Principal Secretary of the concerned department to personally inspect affected areas and evaluate flood control infrastructure.
In districts facing low rainfall so far, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure adequate water supply for farmers' irrigation needs. He also asked municipal bodies to prioritize the repair of roads damaged due to water accumulation. The electricity department has been advised to manage power supply carefully in areas affected by waterlogging to avoid any mishaps.
Preparations have also been ordered in advance for flood-prone regions. Relief materials including boats, medical kits, searchlights, and life-saving equipment must be kept ready for emergencies. Yogi Adityanath stated that there should be no loss of human or animal life and asked the administration to act with complete vigilance.
Additionally, he instructed officials to keep the public informed through regular weather updates and alerts, reinforcing that timely communication and preparedness are key to managing the situation effectively.
