Malkangiri: With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting very heavy rain in south Odisha, the Malkangiri district administration has cancelled leaves of all government employees till September 28.
An order has been issued by Malkangiri District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay in this regard. Any deviation from these instructions will invite strict disciplinary action.
Notably, the IMD has stated that a low-pressure area taking shape in the region may intensify into a deep depression. The system is likely to trigger heavy rain, strong winds, and adverse weather conditions in the district over the next few days. In view of this situation and to tackle any possible emergency situation, the District Collector has directed that no officer or staff member of the district can leave the headquarters without prior permission.
The aim is to ensure that all personnel are available to respond to any emergency situation that may arise due to the predicted heavy rainfall and strong winds.
“It has been reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) that a Deep Depression over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify further and may cause heavy rainfall, strong winds, and adverse weather conditions in this region in the coming days. In view of the above situation, and considering the need for constant preparedness, close monitoring, and immediate response to any emergency, it is hereby ordered that no officer or staff in the district shall leave headquarters without prior permission of the undersigned”, the order issued by the Collector said.
