Indian Tourist Dies Whole Escaping Kathmandu Hotel Set Ablaze By Protesters

New Delhi: It has now come to light that a 57-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad was killed while trying to escape a hotel fire in Nepal’s Kathmandu on Tuesday. The hotel was among those set ablaze by ‘Gen-Z’ protesters in Nepal’s capital.

According to NDTV, the woman, Rajesh Gola, had gone to Nepal with her husband, Ramvir Singh Gola, on September 7, and was staying at the Hyatt Regency.

However, as the “Gen Z” protests intensified and demonstrators set her hotel on fire on September 9, she tried escaping through the window.

“As the fire blocked the escape routes, rescuers placed mattresses on the ground and urged them to jump from the windows. The couple jumped from the fourth floor and landed on the mattress. While Ramvir suffered minor injuries, his wife sustained serious injuries and reportedly died in the hospital,” it has been reported.

According to their son Vishal, his mother died as she got separated from his father while trying to escape.

“She would have been alive if she had been with my father,” he said.

The Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu is a sprawling property near Boudhanath Stupa, among the most important Buddhist sites in Nepal and a draw for tourists. It is among the luxury hotels targetted by the mob during the violence that left at least 51 people dead and over 1,033 injured.

There is also a report of Indian pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh being attacked and robbed on their way back from the Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal.
