Award-winning comedian Ricky Gervais is cooking up plans to build a tennis court as an addition to his new £14.75 million home in London. The 64-year-old has splashed the cash on a seven-bedroom house that holds a cinema, bar, wine cellar and a gym with its very own sauna and steam room. It's safe to say the British funny man isn't afraid to make a fair few changes to the property, as The Sun covered his big plans for the city pad.
According to reports, the comedian intends to 'rip up' his spacious back garden and replace the greenery with a sports surface "for the occasional game of tennis". With this comes his plan to demolish the basketball court, along with the waterfall and other features they deem to be "outdated".
Although it turns out, Gervais will be needing planning permission from the local council because his new home sits in a designated conservation area, tucked away in North London. Next month will see the officials' final decision on the garden plans, and so far there have been no objections from neighbours. The work is expected to take around five months to complete.
On Instagram the couple recently revealed a badminton court, humourously captioned: "S**t just got real #badminton." Despite the court taking up space, there's still plenty of room in their garden with its spacious patio area and primed foliage.

Along with his novelist partner Jane Fallon, the TV star shares an eight-bed Hampstead home worth over £10 million that houses a pool and separate summer house. It's Jane that allows fans more of a sneak peek into their home life, sharing snaps with flowers of their grand staircase, dark wooden flooring and antique chairs.
Her own personal touch is an office decorated with a bright pink wall, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and customised with a doll's house. After the home was first purchased in 2006 for a reported £3.4million, the comedian added a personal touch, building an entertainment complex in the basement that is thought to have set him back £1million.
The property is described to be a "truly beautiful and unique house", pointing out its charming heigh ceilings and quirky character. Set across four floors, a focal point of the home is of course, and the master bedroom, with a ensuite bathooma nd disticntive dressing room - not to mention, a bright pink bath.

There's a stylish feel to the place, with plenty of chunky wooden furniture and unique elements, including the Celtic cross hanging at the top of the stairway. Perhaps a reminder of his less successful music career, pictures also display a modest collection of guitars in the living room.
But the house envy doesn't quite stop there, as the famous duo also own a £3million riverside house in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, along with an additional two apartments in Manhattan, New York. Gervais refers to his Buckinghamshire pad as his "little country retreat", as mentioned in a post on X, which he first bought in 2016.
