Liverpool Lime Street Station has warned passengers to expect delays and cancellations after an emergency between Liverpool and St Helens.
A large emergency service presence has been reported at Broad Green station as all lines are closed.
National Rail has warned there could be delays of up to 60 minutes on some services.
Disruption is expected until 10pm this evening.
