A boy has tragically died and his Father has been left seriously injured in a crash on a major UK motorway. Motorists on the in Lancashire are facing this afternoon (April 20) after a Peugeot van left the road and collided with a tree. The incident, which traffic monitoring service Inrix first reported at 12.39pm, has led to a complete halt of traffic on both northbound and southbound lanes from J34 for Lancaster to J33 for Lancaster South/Garstang.
The situation has resulted in heavy congestion on both sides of the motorway, with police and fire crews currently at the scene. According to Lancaster Area Police, the closure is expected to last 'for some time' as they manage the situation.
