Meghan Markle has made a shock return to Hollywood, filming the movie Close Personal Friends in Pasadena, LA, playing herself on the set at Amazon MGM Studios. The Duchess of Sussex is said to be filming alongside Lily Collins, Brie Larson, Jack Quaid - son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid - and Brit Henry Golding in Close Personal Friends.
According to sources, the duchess has been "swamped with offers" after quitting acting eight years ago to marry into the Royal Family. Meghan's husband, the Duke of Sussex, is reportedly extremely supportive of her decision to return to the silver screen. A studio source told The Sun: "This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves.
"She has been swamped with offers but this one felt right. It is Meghan's way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set.
"Everyone involved is super-excited, and have been sworn to secrecy about her involvement. Prince Harry is, of course, really supportive and quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy."
Meghan has previously opened up about whether she misses acting. She spoke on Emma Grede's podcast in the summer and said that she "sometimes" misses it.
The Duchess explained: "But you know what, actually, having a large team, being back on set with With Love, Meghan was great, because I realised how much I missed my crew. I love being around a crew."
The Duchess of Sussex starred as Rachel Zane in seven seasons of the hugely successful Netflix show, which ran from 2011 to 2019.
However, she left in 2018 after marrying Prince Harry and relocating to the United Kingdom.
Meghan's latest offering in Hollywood revolves around two couples -one famous and one not -who meet in Santa Barbara and become fast friends.
The film is directed by Jason Orley, who has also written the script alongside Isaac Aptaker.
The Duchess of Sussex has been contacted for comment.
