Meghan Markle has been accused of making the same "schoolboy error" over and over again by a royal expert. It comes as the Duchess of Sussex remains embroiled in another plagiarism row over her proposed kids' TV show.
The Netflix show Pearl, which was announced in July 2021, allegedly has "striking similarities" with an author's book series. Meghan was listed as an executive producer of the series alongside Sir Elton John's husband David Furnish.
The show was axed less than a year later and Mel Elliott, a writer and illustrator from Hastings, claims there was a possible infringement of copyright in relation to her own character Pearl Power. She sent a legal letter to Netflix shortly after the series was announced, which reported the two works' similarities "appear to be too many and too striking to be mere coincidence".
However, the 51-year-old reportedly never heard back and has since said she was "disappointed and confused" by the situation. She also sent two personal letters to Archewell in October 2021 and February 2022 asking for updates.
Royal author Phil Dampier told : "It's yet another example of how the people around her (Meghan) don't seem to have done their research before she comes out with projects.
"And there's nothing worse than being accused of plagiarism or of copying other people's work." He added that "these are just schoolboy errors" and proper "due diligence" is not being done.
Mr Dampier went on to say that "it's not a good look" for Meghan as she continues to generate "negative headlines all around the world when she's trying to make progress... and increase her pulling power... and obviously make money".
It comes after Meghan was accused by Pamela Anderson fans of "copying" her Cooking With Love show. The Duchess released her own cooking programme With Love Meghan on Netflix last month.
She was also accused of copying Majorca's historic coat of arms for the logo of her lifestyle brand in February. The complaint was issued by the mayoress of Porres.
