Some supporters' transfer sensors were tingling at half-time in to over an interaction between Ruben Amorim and Matheus Cunha. United are reportedly considering a summer swoop for the Wolves forward to solve their attacking problems, which were rife once again at .

Pablo Sarabia's late free-kick handed Vitor Pereira's side a fifth consecutive Premier League win, punishing the hosts for another toothless display. Cunha is among the attacking players being linked with joining Amorim's rebuild, alongside Antoine Semenyo, Liam Delap and Victor Osimhen. And the pair shared a brief exchange midway through Sunday's clash, which further fuelled speculation about Cunha's potential arrival.

TV cameras caught the 25-year-old making his way into the Old Trafford tunnel after the half-time whistle, with Amorim trailing close behind.

When both entered the tunnel out of sight of fans in the stands, Amorim warmly placed his hand on the back of Cunha's head to get his attention.

What unfolded before they parted ways for their respective dressing rooms is anyone's guess, but it was a spicy sight in the current environment.

The United boss' actions highlighted his positive impression of Cunha, and he made no secret of how highly he rated the Brazilian in his pre-match press conference.

According to , United view the signing of Cunha on top of a striker as plausible if they can shift attacking exiles Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony.

Old Trafford chiefs are said to be aware of Amorim's desperate need for upgrades to the firepower he inherited, and there is hope the Wolves talisman would be able to make an instant impact.

Cunha has registered 45 goal involvements in 87 games since joining Wolves from Atletico Madrid, sparking links to a heavyweight transfer.

And the player himself has publicly confirmed his desire to pursue a new challenge at the end of the season, offering United optimism over a deal.

In March, Cunha revealed: "I had a lot of offers, but I wouldn't feel well if I had done it.

"Some things you can't control, but I couldn't leave the club in the middle of the season, in a difficult situation, in the relegation zone.

"But I've made it clear that I need to take the next step. I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential."

Cunha has a £63million release clause in his Wolves contract, but it's unclear whether United are in a position to cough up such a fee.
