Sarah Ferguson "will always stand" by Prince Andrew, despite his ongoing royal downfall, an insider has revealed. While they are divorced, and have been for many years, Sarah and Andrew have remained good friends and even live together at Royal Lodge.
While Sarah has found herself entangled in recent scandals surrounding her previous friendship with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew is also facing a plummeting reputation as a result of his association with Epstein. This has led to Andrew surrendering use of his royal titles, including the Duke of York title.
In a statement on Friday, Andrew acknowledged how various accusations about him - which he strongly denies - have distracted from the work of the Royal Family.
He said it is for this reason that he will no longer use his royal titles.
The Palace also confirmed that Sarah Ferguson will also no longer be able to use her royal titles either.
While some may think Sarah may finally cut ties with her ex-husband as a result of this latest crisis, a friend of Sarah has said that this will never be the case because she will "always have love for him".
They also said that Sarah is "relaxed" despite losing her Duchess of York title.
Speaking to Page Six, the friend said: "Sarah will always stand by Andrew, she will always have love for him. Sarah is relaxed ... it's always been a courtesy title."
The couple have been keeping a low profile over the last few weeks at Royal Lodge in Windsor.
However, with Prince Andrew facing increased calls to be evicted from the 30-bed mansion, the future is likely to be feeling uncertain for the couple.
This is despite the fact Andrew has a 75-year lease on The Crown Estate property until 2078. The lease has been described as "cast iron", making it hard for Andrew - who only pays "peppercorn rent" per annum - to be evicted by King Charles.
