Trains and events have been cancelled as Storm Floris threatens to batter the UK with "danger to life" winds across Northern UK on Monday. Some trains will stop from 12pm in Scotland, where brutal gusts are likely to reach 80 to 90 mph on some exposed coasts, hills and bridges, according to the Met Office.
In Northern UK, do not travel warnings have been issued, where inland areas are likely to be hammered with 40 to 50 mph winds, and gusts between 60 to 70 mph are expected along exposed coasts and high ground, especially Scotland.
The forecaster has issued amber warnings for much of Scotland, from 10am to 10pm on Monday, August 4. A yellow warning for wind had already been issued for northern parts of the UK from 6am on the same day to 6am on Tuesday.
