In a powerful stride toward gender equality in sports, the Khelo India ASMITA Football League 2025-26 was inaugurated by Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse, Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, at the Godavari Engineering College Ground in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. The league is designed to identify and nurture girls aged 13 and under, including those from tribal and minority communities, providing them with a platform to transform their passion into performance.
Calling the event “a stage where passion turns into performance,” Khadse stressed the league’s role in breaking barriers and offering equal opportunities. She emphasized that the initiative aligns with the government’s philosophy of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and aims to make women a central force in India’s journey toward becoming a global sporting powerhouse.
The event was graced by dignitaries such as Ketakitai Patil, Farukh Shaikh, and senior officials from the Jalgaon District Football Association. It also received strong backing from the Sports Authority of India, the All India Football Federation, and the Western India Football Association. By emphasizing grassroots growth and nurturing role models, the ASMITA League aims to transform the landscape of women’s sports in India.
