85 make it to UP Board merit lists

Prayagraj: As many as 55 students from high school and 30 from intermediate secured spots in the top 10 merit list of UP Board, the results of which were declared on Friday. However, the number has drastically come down as last year, there were 159 students in the top 10 slots in class 10 results. Likewise, there were a whopping 408 students in the top 10 positions in class 12 results as compared to mere 30 this year.

The competition this year was intense, with just a 9-mark difference between the first and tenth positions in high school (587 to 578 marks) and only an 11-mark gap in intermediate (486 to 475). Despite such narrow margins, many students competed fiercely, showcasing outstanding academic excellence and making the results extremely competitive.

At the high school level, the student who claimed the first position scored an impressive 587 marks out of 600 (97.83%) while the student at the tenth position scored 578 (96.33%) marks. Moreover, at the high school level, two students were tied for the second position, each scoring 586 marks, trailing by just one mark from the top position. For the third position, three students shared the spot, each securing 585 (97.5%) marks. The race became even tighter at the fourth position, where six students achieved identical scores of 584 (97.3%) marks. The fifth position was clinched by a single girl student who scored 583 (97.16%) marks.

Further down the list, there was a cluster of competition for the sixth and seventh positions. Seven students shared the sixth spot, and seven secured the seventh position. The eighth position saw the highest grouping, with 11 students, and similarly, six students occupied the ninth position. In the intense battle for the tenth position, 11 students scored 578 (96.3%) marks. Similarly, in terms of class 12, the competition was equally intense, with only an 11-mark difference between the first and the tenth position holders. While the topper scored 486 out of 500, the students at the 10th place got an aggregate of 475.

Barring the first, third and fourth places, there were a number of students who shared the merit position, and the difference was just one mark. While Mahak Jaiswal topped the state with 97.20%, there were four students with 96.8% marks at the number two place. There were three students at number five, four at the sixth, three at the seventh, two at the eighth, four at the ninth, and seven at the 10th place in the top-10 merit list.
