Agartala: Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam in Kashmir, Tripura police have, so far, arrested eight individuals for posting derogatory comments on social media.
A police official said between Apr 24 and Apr 26, multiple cases were filed. Among the accused are a govt employee and two retired teachers.
"Three FIRs were filed at Dharmanagar police station in North district. A retired teacher was arrested and later released on bail, while two others were summoned for questioning," the official said.
Another FIR was also registered at Kadamtala police station against one Mansur Ali.
Meanwhile, two other persons — Jaharlal Debnath and Kuldip Mandal — were arrested by Ambassa police in the Dhalai district. One person, Jahrul Islam, was also arrested and subsequently released on bail. Similarly, at Sabroom police station, one Pranab Das was booked for similar offences.
