'Folklore genre of horror-comedy will take a lot of time to saturate'

Sohum Shah, whose film Tumbbad scored the biggest re-release numbers at the box office last year, said that for him, Tumbbad is not a horror film.

He shared,"It's more like dadi maa ki kahaniyan. I think why we are seeing a lot of horror comedies is that in a horror-comedy premise, you can play a lot. If it's a comedy or romance, then the plot is predictable. Lekin horror comedy mein koi pataal se aa sakta hai, koi swarg lok se aa sakta hai, koi rakshash ho sakta hai."

Sohum explained, "That folklore genre of horror-comedy will take a lot of time to saturate. Horror comedy ki baat hai toh mujhe lagta hai abhi toh ye genre shuru hua hai. The actual horror genre movies - films like Conjuring - we have not even started making those kinds of horror films in India yet. Abhi toh shuru hona baaki hai. What we are currently making in India, it's not a horror movie; it's horror-comedy."
