Nushrratt Bharuccha, the actress known for her roles in films like 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama,' and 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' recently opened up about how she has been facing criticism over her clothing choices and visits to places of worship, particularly temples.
In an interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Nushrratt revealed that her connection to religion is deeply personal and meaningful to her. She explained, "For me, my faith is real. Unreal things happen, and that’s what strengthens my belief. That’s why I’m still connected, still strong, and I know I have to follow this path." She further emphasised that her family supports the freedom to practise faith individually, without imposing their beliefs on others.
"Wherever you find peace, whether it’s in a mandir, a gurudwara or a church, you should go there," she shared.
The 'Akaash Vani' actress also revealed that she prays namaz regularly, even while travelling. "I even say this openly: I pray namaz. If I get time, I pray five times a day. I even carry my prayer mat while travelling."
Facing criticism over appearance and beliefs
Despite her approach to faith, Nushrratt revealed she has often faced harsh judgment from some quarters, particularly when it comes to her clothing and where she chooses to go. "Whether it’s about my clothes or where I go, I’ve faced comments. When I post my picture, people ask, ‘What kind of Muslim is she? Look at her clothes,’" she said. However, Nushrratt remains unshaken by these judgments. She responds to criticism with resilience, knowing that her style and her choices are part of her self-expression.
"How do I handle it? Just like any other criticism," she said, showing that she has learned to ignore negativity and stay true to herself. For her, criticism—whether about her appearance, her faith, or her professional choices—is just a part of the territory of being in the public eye. "It doesn’t change me. It won’t stop me from going to a temple or praying namaz. I’ll keep doing both. Because that’s my faith," she affirmed.
