NEW DELHI: Mumbai Indians extended their winning streak to four matches with a commanding seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in their IPL 2025 clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday.
Riding on Rohit Sharma ’s classy 70 off 46 balls and another clinical all-round performance, MI chased down the modest target of 144 with ease, finishing at 146/3 in just 15.4 overs.

This emphatic win propelled Mumbai from sixth to third on the points table, with their Net Run Rate also receiving a significant boost.
Rohit, continuing his resurgence with a second consecutive half-century, looked in sublime touch as he struck eight fours and three sixes. He received strong support from Suryakumar Yadav, who provided the finishing touches with a blazing unbeaten 40 off just 19 balls, studded with five boundaries and two sixes.
The match was effectively decided within the powerplay itself as Sunrisers Hyderabad crumbled to 35/5 following a top-order collapse.
Trent Boult (4/26) and Deepak Chahar (2/12) ran through the SRH lineup with sharp, disciplined bowling. The only resistance came from Heinrich Klaasen and impact sub Abhinav Manohar, who stitched a 99-run stand to lift their team from complete disaster.
Klaasen top-scored with a fluent 71 off 44 deliveries, including nine fours and two sixes, while Manohar added a patient 43 off 37. Despite their efforts, the total of 143/8 was never going to be enough against a rampaging MI batting unit.
Interestingly, the match had its share of drama. Ishan Kishan walked off voluntarily after nicking one down leg — a moment of rare honesty — even as the umpire had initially signaled a wide. The umpire raised his finger only after Kishan began his walk, despite no appeal from the fielding side.
The five-time champions had also beaten SRH earlier in the season and now look poised for a strong push towards the playoffs.
For SRH, the loss is another blow in an already faltering campaign. They remain second-last on the table with just two wins from eight games, and their top-order’s lack of confidence continues to haunt them.
