The Golden State Warriors have dealt a massive blow in Game 2 against the Houston Rockets , as Jimmy Butler suffered a painful fall and was ruled out early with a pelvic contusion . According to reports, he will not return to the game, and further evaluation will confirm if he can play the rest of the games with the Warriors lineup in the playoffs.
Jimmy Butler was injured during the Golden State Warriors vs Houston Rockets matchup
The injury occurred late in the first quarter when Jimmy Butler went up for a rebound and attempted a put-back. Rockets guard Amen Thompson collided with him mid-air, catching Butler’s lower half and sending him crashing flat onto the hardwood. The awkward, scissoring impact left Butler no time to brace himself, and he hit the court hard on his tailbone. He remained on the ground in obvious pain before eventually getting up to take his free throws.
“Jimmy Butler III (pelvis contusion) will not return to tonight’s game,” Warriors PR shared on X.
Though Butler briefly stayed in the game, he signaled to the bench moments later and headed straight to the locker room. Not long into the second quarter, the Warriors officially ruled him out with a pelvic contusion.

Losing Butler does not look good for the Warriors. Since acquiring Butler from Miami at the trade deadline, Golden State has surged to a 24-7 record in games he’s played. In Game 1, Butler led the charge with 25 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and five steals in a statement 95-85 win.
Butler had started Game 2 strong as well, posting three points and two rebounds in his first eight minutes before the injury. The Warriors, already trailing 22-15 at the time, were forced to dig deep into their bench. Head coach Steve Kerr called on Jonathan Kuminga , who hadn’t seen the floor in over a week but suddenly became part of the rotation again.

Adding to the chaos, rookie guard Brandin Podziemski was listed as questionable due to illness, leaving Golden State severely short-handed. So far, the Rockets are leading the game at their home ground, Toyota Center in Houston, as they are looking to even the series in game 2.
