NEW DELHI: Stepping up its attack on government in National Herald case , Congress brass on Saturday at a meeting with party general secretaries, state in-charges and presidents of frontal organisation at its headquarters in Delhi decided to denounce action against its members Sonia and Rahul Gandhi by holding press conferences across states from Monday till Thursday.
Claiming ED’s chargesheet against its functionaries in the case of alleged money laundering was a “lie-sheet”, party chief Mallikarjun Kharge said, “No matter whose name they put (in the chargesheet), we are not going to be afraid.” Kharge said Sonia and Rahul were named in ED chargesheet and National Herald’s assets were attached with a “spirit of vendetta”.
Congress member Jairam Ramesh alleged that the case by ED is “not a legal but a political battle”. Meanwhile, stepping up its outreach the party will also be launching “Samvidhaan Bachao” rallies starting from April 25 to May 30, he said.
