Ten militants were killed in an ongoing encounter with Assam Rifles near New Samtal village in Manipur’s Chandel district, close to the Indo-Myanmar border. The operation, launched based on specific intelligence about the movement of armed cadres, is being carried out by a unit under the Indian Army’s Spear Corps. Meanwhile, in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces engaged terrorists in an active gunfight in the Tral area of Awantipora. This comes shortly after three Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were neutralized in Shopian during Operation Keller.
In national developments, President Droupadi Murmu strongly questioned the Supreme Court’s April 8 verdict that set deadlines for the President and governors to act on state bills.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has appealed to India to uphold the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty , citing the reliance of millions on its provisions. Separately, the International Atomic Energy Agency dismissed rumors of a nuclear facility breach in Pakistan following reports of Indian strikes during the so-called “Operation Sindoor,” affirming no radiation leak or nuclear incident had occurred.
