Fancy dinner at NYC Italian restaurant? Kash Patel's activity hours after Charlie Kirk's shooting draws scrutiny

Send Push
Amid FBI leadership concerns after Kash Patel 's 'missteps' in the Charlie Kirk assassination case, reports claimed that Patel was dining at Rao's Italian restaurant in East Harlem hours after Charlie Kirk was shot and pronounced dead. It was around the same time that Patel's X handle posted that the suspect was in custody which had to be corrected later by Patel himself. The individual who was initially arrested in connection with Charlie Kirk's shooting was released as he was not the right person, Patel posted.

After a 33-hour hunt, Tyler Robinson was named as the killer after his father turned him in. The developments leave room for not only critics but also Republicans to question what exactly the law enforcement did apart from releasing the photos of the suspect. Trump's former adviser Steve Bannon said it was the family that gets the credit for turning Tyler in.

Kash Patel's expletive-ridden virtual video meeting

According to reports, Kash Patel lashed out at agents during an intense and expletive-ridden virtual video meeting Thursday afternoon with FBI teams across the country. Patel accused agents of not giving him information fast enough, including not waking him up in the middle of the night when images of the suspect were first discovered, CNN reported, citing sources. He focused his anger at the Salt Lake City special agent in charge, who had only recently taken over the job after his predecessor was forced out.

'Kash Patel is not the right man to run the FBI'

Influential conservative activist Christopher Rufo called for Patel's resignation and said he is clearly not the right man to run the FBI. “I’m grateful that Utah authorities have captured the suspect in the Charlie Kirk assassination, and think it is time for Republicans to assess whether Kash Patel is the right man to run the FBI. He performed terribly in the last few days, and it’s not clear whether he has the operational expertise to investigate, infiltrate, and disrupt the violent movements—of whatever ideology—that threaten the peace in the United States,” Rufo wrote a lengthy post on Patel.

"We would be wise to take a moment and ask whether Kash Patel has what it takes to get this done. I've been on the phone the last few days with many conservative leaders, all of whom wholeheartedly support the Trump Administration and none of whom are confident that the current structure of the FBI is up to this task," Rufo wrote.

Steve Bannon asks why Utah Guv gave details at press conference, Kash Patel should have

"Correct me if I’m wrong, we watched the nine-minute press conference yesterday and the pictures that came up and went all over the internet, and it appears the kid had said something to the family, the family had the goods to confront him and the family turned him in. I’m not seeing the great law enforcement work and I’m not, you know, saying there’s not great law enforcement. They all came together, I got that, but this was not through law enforcement work,” Bannon said, asking why Governor Spencer Cox gave details instead of Kash Patel.

“What I wanna see is some law enforcement people step up to the microphone, give some details and take some questions from the media. I don’t know why Kash flew out there, you know, thousands of miles to give us, hey, we’re working partnerships and our great partnership in Utah," Bannon said.
